What You Can Do to Help Minimize the Risk of AMD
Hello! In this month’s e-newsletter, we will be talking about part 2 of who’s at risk for AMD.
This month’s issue is especially important because we’re discussing things that you can control to help prevent AMD. If you have a high blood pressure, poor eating habits, are overweight or are outside a lot, you’ll want to read on to see how you can help prevent AMD.
One of the leading risk factors for Macular Degeneration is smoking. Smoking constricts retinal blood vessels and prevents photoreceptor cells from getting blood supply and oxygen.
People with high blood pressure can also be at increased risk for Macular Degeneration since high blood pressure can damage the delicate blood vessels of the retina and cause leakage.
A poor diet consisting of mainly processed food can produce free radicals and a lack of antioxidants that adversely affects the macula by damaging the photoreceptor cells. That’s why minerals such as Zinc and Antioxidants play a major role in preventing AMD. MaxiVision brand of supplements offers all the needed minerals and vitamins to help fight free radicals and Macular Degeneration in general.
Obesity is another major factor in your increased development of AMD. In fact, Obesity can account for more than 2x the risk of developing this disease. Large intake of fats as well as a lack of exercise affects the blood vessels and constricts the amount of nutrients and antioxidants going to retinal tissues. It also blocks the removal of free radicals which damages cell metabolism.
Sunlight can cause damage to the retina due to blue light and ultraviolet radiation since it produces free radicals which impact the photoreceptor cells. The use of UV blocking sunglasses is very beneficial in blocking out unwanted radiation.
As you can see, by not smoking, wearing sunglasses, controlling your blood pressure, eating healthy and using vitamin supplements like MaxiVision can go a long way in helping prevent Macular Degeneration.
In next month’s e-newsletter, we talk more on how to soften the potentially devastating diagnosis of Macular Degeneration and a surprising way to radically help you and your loved ones from developing this eye disease.
How Flax Seed Can Radically Reduce Your Chances for Macular Degeneration
Your body needs the proper nutrients and antioxidants to perform properly. To this end, it is important to provide your body with the vitamins and essential fatty acids in order to avoid diseases like AMD.
Flax seeds are a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids which have various health benefits including improving your cardiovascular health, immune system, nervous system as well as a decreased risk in developing Macular Degeneration. MaxiVision’s Whole Body supplements contains all the essential fatty acids including Omega-3.
The nutty flavor of flax seeds can be a tasty addition to a diverse amount of foods such as fruit shakes, smoothies, salads and oatmeal. If you have digestive issues, ground flax seeds can be an alternative but needs to be refrigerated. Either way, flax seeds can provide a much-need nutritional supplement to help reduce the risk of AMD.
